Affiliate Marketing Success Can Still Be Won - Here's How
Affiliate marketing success can be attained anyone with an Internet connection and the propensity for learning. There are programs which you can join for free which will let you promote literally thousands of products without paying a dime to do so, and there are ways to market which are within the financial reach of everyone. As long as you are prepared to commit to putting in the time and effort needed to become a successful affiliate marketer, there is nothing to stop you from achieving the goal and reaching a consistent healthy income.
Many people who are successful at affiliate marketing use programs offered by the largest and longest established networks, either selling physical products or digital downloads. The largest and most respected retailer on the web, Amazon, offers commissions for anyone who can drive sales to their website, despite having high search engine placings and a good reputation. The commissions on physical products are lower than for downloads, but the conversion rates can be extremely high. Clickbank is the largest digital retailer, and while the conversion rates are lower with downloads the commissions can be as high as 75%.
You don't necessarily have to join a network to be successful as an affiliate marketer. There are many smaller independent affiliate programs which allow you to promote products for a commission, and there can be advantages to doing this. In an attempt to attract affiliates, the vendor may offer more attractive payment proposals, including in some cases instant payments via PayPal. This can be a great way to get your career moving forwards quickly, as you can reinvest your profits in building more websites or driving more traffic to your existing ones. The key is to find campaigns which are profitable and scale them up, while dropping the ones which don't work out.
There is one fundamental element of affiliate marketing success which is frequently missed even by those who have been in the game for years, and that is the building of a list of names and email addresses. It has been proven time and again that people are reluctant to buy when they are first exposed to an offer, and if you direct the potential buyer to the vendor's website without collecting the email address first you are only giving yourself that one chance to make the sale and get the commission. If you capture their email address, you will get other chances.
Still, there are some marketers who build successful affiliate marketing businesses without ever even building a list or renting an autoresponder, although they leave a lot of money on the table by doing this. The method they typically use is to build content rich websites with the idea of getting them to rank in the search engines for important niche related terms. This will be harder to do if the niche is more competitive, but if you can get a site ranked on the first page you will see a lot of consistent reliable traffic. It still makes no sense to let this traffic slip through without trying to grab the email addresses, but many are content to do this.
There isn't any doubt that affiliate marketing success is becoming harder to gain as the markets become more competitive. This is why giving your attention to long term list building and website optimization strategies is just so important. If traffic is expensive, it is more important than ever to get as much benefit from that traffic as possible. Set up the right foundation before you begin sending visitors to your pages, and you can certainly build consistent affiliate marketing success.
